Role of Brainstem Glial Cells in Energy Balance Regulation

Lauren received her PhD in Pharmacology & Physiology from St. Louis University. In her doctoral work, Lauren studied the neuroendocrine control of reproductive development and function under the mentorship of Drs. Willis Samson and Gina Yosten. The goal of this project was to implement a multifaceted approach to assess the involvement of astrocytes in feeding behavior and leptin-mediated signaling. Also, to examine the effects of a high fat diet-induced obesity on astrocyte physiology within the brainstem. Publication link
